The strain of cannabis depends on the plant’s genetics. Most strains on the market today are hybrids, which combine both indica and sativa strains to create unique effects and flavours. If you’re new to cannabis, you may consider purchasing a Spade Sample Pack to try a small quantity of a few strains to help you to discover your preferences.
Flavour is another essential factor in choosing a strain. Each variety of cannabis has different terpene profiles that affect the taste and smell. Each person has different needs and tastes when it comes to cannabis strains. Do your research and/or reach out to a Spade Specialist for a recommendation.
Flowers provide the most versatile and inexpensive way to consume cannabis. Many people choose concentrates over traditional flowers to avoid smoking. However, there are many alternatives to smoking, including:
- Dry Herb Vaporizers: Dry herb vaporizers allow you to get fast effects from cannabis without all the carcinogens that come with smoking.
- Edibles: Add cannabis to your favorite recipes for stronger and longer-lasting effects.
- Tinctures and oils: To take alone or add to food, drinks, and cosmetics.
In general, indicas are short, bushy plants whose flowers impart relaxing effects. Sativa plants grow tall and lean, and the flowers tend to provide energizing experiences. When indica strains are smoked/ingested they typically provide the user with a full-body, relaxing high. When sativa strains are smoked/ingested they typically provide the user with an energizing, euphoric and inspiring high, generally followed by a period of increased appetite, especially for sugary foods.
Hybrid strains are typically bred from an indica strain and a sativa strain in an attempt to reap the benefits of both. Hybrid strains are either sativa or indica dominant. Hybrids can provide users with a combination of both a body and head high. Most weed on the market today is a hybrid.
CBD is the second most prominent chemical compound in cannabis. It has been reported to have anti-inflammatory properties, analgesic, anti-convulsant, and stress relief. CBD is not psychoactive.
We carry an array of CBD products including tinctures (oil), topicals and edibles.

Topical cannabis products are products such as lotions, creams and oils that are meant to be applied to the hair, skin and nails, and have been infused with cannabis extracts . They contain cannabinoids, particularly tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC) and cannabidiol (or CBD ).
Edibles provide long-lasting effects in precise dosages with no smoking or vaping required.
Our recommended dose is between 8-10 mg for first time users, but it is important to consult a healthcare professional if you are a first time user. Edibles take at least an hour to digest and take effect. Be patient and do not dose again until you’ve waited at least three hours from the first dose. The high from edibles will last between 6-12 hours. Please Note: ingesting an edible on an empty stomach can have a stronger and sometimes negative effect on the user. It is always recommended to have eaten something within 15-30 minutes. Again, please consult with your healthcare provider.
In Ontario, the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017 regulates where it is legal to smoke or vape cannabis. According to this Act you may consume cannabis and its products anywhere except in the following places:
- in any enclosed workplace
- any enclosed public place
- other places designated as smoke-free and vape-free
However, to be mindful of our neighbors, we have adopted a smoke-free entrance and exit way policy and humbly ask that you do not consume your products within 20 feet of our main exit or entrance.
